چکیده

Exotic-deformation effects in 46 Ti nucleus were investigated by analysing the high-energy γ-ray and the α-particle energy spectra. One of the experiments was performed using the charged-particle multi-detector array ICARE together with a large volume (4 " ×4 ") BGO detector. The study focused on simultaneous measurement of light charged particles and γ-rays in coincidence with the evaporation residues. The experimental data show a signature of very large deformations of the compound nucleus in the Ja-cobi transition region at the highest spins. These results are compared to data from previous experiments performed with the HECTOR array coupled to the EUROBALL array, where it was found that the GDR strength function is highly fragmented, strongly indicating a presence of nuclei with very large deformation.

Steady Thermal Stresses in a Thin Rotating Disc of Finitesimal Deformation with Mechanical Load

Seth’s transition theory is applied to the problems of thickness variation parameter in a thin rotating disc by finite deformation. Neither the yield criterion nor the associated flow rule is assumed here. The results obtained here are applicable to compressible materials. If the additional condition of incompressibility is imposed, then the expression for stresses corresponds to those arising ...

An Investigation of Stress and Deformation States of Rotating Thick Truncated Conical Shells of Functionally Graded Material

The present study aims at investigating stress and deformation behavior of rotating thick truncated conical shells subjected to variable internal pressure. Material prpperties of the shells are graded along the axial direction by Mori-tanaka scheme, which is achieved by elemental gradation of the properties.Governing equations are derived using principle of stsionary total potential (PSTP) and ...

Hot Jupiter Variability in Eclipse Depth

Physical conditions in the atmospheres of tidally locked, slowly rotating hot Jupiters correspond to dynamical circulation regimes with Rhines scales and Rossby deformation radii comparable to the planetary radii. Consequently, the large spatial scales of moving atmospheric structures could generate significant photospheric variability. Here, we estimate the level of thermal infrared variabilit...

Upper Bound Analysis of Tube Extrusion Process Through Rotating Conical Dies with Large Mandrel Radius

In this paper, an upper bound approach is used to analyze the tube extrusion process through rotating conical dies with large mandrel radius. The material under deformation in the die and inside the container is divided to four deformation zones. A velocity field for each deformation zone is developed to evaluate the internal powers and the powers dissipated on all frictional and velocity disco...

Giant-dipole resonance and the deformation of hot, rotating nuclei.

The development of nuclear shapes under the extreme conditions of high angular momentum and/or temperature is examined. Scaling properties are used to demonstrate universal properties of both thermal expectation values of nuclear shapes as well as the minima of the free energy, which can be used to understand the Jacobi transition. A universal correlation between the width of the giant-dipole r...
